Autumn is a restful time in spite of all the activity. It is still warm enough outside to be enjoyable for a short walk in slippers and bathrobe.
The hills to the east (and those to the north, west and south which we cant see from our place) are beautiful.

The light of autumn is captured in this photograph of the large Oak that is just to the south of the Blacksmith Shop. This Oak is one of the survivors of the original old growth forest that covered the hills 100 years ago.

Autumn is also the time for hunting. It is a sad time for us when gun season starts just before Thanksgiving for deer. We wont see them again much until spring when they visit the garden to munch on the Honeysuckle (one of the earliest spring greens to appear) that climbs the fence.

The Seasons
We’ve collected some photographs to show the four seasons in our woods.
Socks
Frog Pond
Some photos taken during the late winter.
The
Great Morel Hunt
tells about Molly's and George's hunt for the Great
Morel Forest, a semi-mythical place briefly seen in Spring 2000.
We attempt to find it again.
