Autumn, continuedleaf graphic

With the flurry of activity that autumn brings everyone is busy. Squirrels are gathering nuts, ground wasps are digging their nest holes in the ground — and the cats are hunting.

Bobo of all our cats spends the most time outside exploring. Here he shows us a large black beetle that he found under a leaf.

When the leaves fall from the trees the lichen figures become even more plain. Generally most of the trees in the woods have a greenish tinge to their bark. The big exception is the pines whose bark is brown. White Oaks do have a whitish bark in comparison to the others. Ash and Persimmon trees have a dark rich brown bark.

This is our Zen corner in the yard with two large stones found nearby.

The Great Morel Hunt
tells about Molly's and George's hunt for the Great Morel Forest, a semi-mythical place briefly seen in Spring 2000. We attempt to find it again.
